Being organized and making sure that everything had its time was drilled into my head since I was very young. My dad always read to me the verse in the Bible that said that everything had its time and place. I always thought, "Well, that's crazy! If I want to eat, I do it now. If I want to jump, I can do it now. Why do I have to wait for something that I want to do when I want to do it?" I learned really quick this was not true. I was not in control of the future and how things just happened.
Now, I find myself a 23 year old mother of the most precious 3 year old boy who is so full of energy (I think he took half of my energy for his own when he was born), a full time student, a full time employee, and dancer (well...I this is my 1st full year doing it), and now engaged and planning a wedding. I have no idea how I manage to do everything in a day, but I do.
Here is a picture of a little look into my day after work today (which ends at 5:30pm)::
I did my taxes, did some homework for a couple of online classes, read most of a chapter for a book in another class, and I watched Despicable Me with my son and fiancé (which I did not realize was almost 2 hrs long!). My favorite part of the day? Watching a movie with my son that had him laughing so hard it made me laugh with him. My least favorite part? Having to stay up a few hours later to do homework that could have been done during the time I was watching the movie. Why didn't I just skip the movie? Good question! Because I would much rather lack sleep and have spent some time with my son than let him go to sleep without us spending time together.
Everything has its time. It's how you spend it and the memories you make with it that ultimately count (especially with your children).
